[BLDG-SIM] converting Visual DOE to eQuest

Alex:

You have it. VisualDOE was the first attempt I know (predating PowerDOE)
to make DOE-2 Windows based. Visual DOE is based on DOE-2.1E

eQuest is DOE-2.2, which combined SYSTEM and PLANT in HVAC. The eQuest
manual explains how to convert 2.1E files to 2.2. But realizes that both
eQuest and VisualDOE have their own hierarchy where exactly to place
inputs in the .INP file, irrespective if they can fly in 2.2 by
themselves in another line of the program.

So I think it becomes brain surgery to translate the files from one to
another. It would be faster just to reinput the data in eQuest.

In my humble opinion..

Subject: [BLDG-SIM] converting Visual DOE to eQuest

Hi,

Sorry if this question may have already been covered in the past, but I
was wondering if there is a straightforward way to convert Visual DOE
files to run in eQuest, or at the least to grab the building geometry
out of the Visual DOE input file and have it translate into eQuest. A
brief look at the Visual DOE input file indicated that it was based on
DOE 2.1E and not 2.2.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Sincerely,

Alec Stevens, PE, LEED AP
