[BLDG-SIM] eQUEST User FUNCTIONs

That's not correct; DOE-2.2 does not have user-defined functions
implemented. I believe that the 2.2 development team has stated that it
would be a significant amount of work to introduce this capability back
into DOE-2.2 because of the messy way they were originally implemented
in DOE2.1E. I wouldn't count on seeing user-defined functions in 2.2
anytime soon.

You can use macros in 2.2 but not user-defined functions.

Rick - My understanding is that the FUNCTION capabilities are fully
implemented in DOE-2.2/eQUEST. Create your building using eQUEST, save &
close then add in the functions. Do this with a text editor and work
directly with the *.inp file in the project directory. When you open the
file again, the functions keywords are ignored by the eQUEST interface,
but the commands are executed by DOE-2.2. Remember that eQUEST is a GUI
for DOE-2, the engine hasn't changed. Tracking down errors is just the
same as 2.1e, look in the *.sim and output.out files for help.

Subject: [BLDG-SIM] eQUEST User FUNCTIONs

Does anyone know if/when/how user defined FUNCTION capabilities are
going to be implemented in eQUEST (DOE 2.2)? I have a few I have
developed in the past for DOE 2.1E and am needing to do something
similar for a current modeling effort, but am required to use eQUEST as
my modeling software. It struck me as weird that all the syntax
instruction is in the DOE 2.2 documentation (probably carried over from
previous versions) but then noted as not available. Any feedback would
be appreciated.
