[Equest-users] Equipment Tab

Omar -

I generally only use the "Internal Energy Sources" for gas loads in the space (eg cooking appliances) or for process heat gains that are not derived from a meter (eg heat gain from a baking product that was baked in a different zone and is cooling off in this zone).

As much as I can, I try to total ALL the process electrical sources in a space and assign the wattage and the schedule to match, within the Electrical Equipment schedule. "simple as possible but no simpler."

Of the items that you mentioned - PC's, Printers, electric socket for each workstation, 80 L capacity electric water heater for each WC, Refrigerator, coffee machine - I would put all except the water heater in the Electrical Equipment schedule.

The water heater is a regulated load, not a process load, so that should be defined explicitly and accounted for separately.

As per the help file for "Internal Energy Sources" "Schedule" - "Takes the U-name of the schedule (with TYPE=MULTIPLIER) for any source of internal energy (such as process equipment within a space) other than people, lights, or electrical equipment. Schedule values are fractions of SOURCE-POWER. If SOURCE-SCHEDULE is not entered, the schedule values will default to zero and no source loads are simulated."

Hope this helps!

Subject: [Equest-users] Equipment Tab

Dear all,
I've become so confused about the 25% of the process loads, which do count when I place my loads in the "Internal Energy Sources" space, under the Equipment tab in eQuest. I'll brief my confusion in the following question:

1. What loads should I count as "Equipment" and what loads should I count as "Internal Energy Sources" .. knowing that I have an office building with:(PC's, Printers, electric socket for each workstation, 80 L capacity electric water heater for each WC, Refrigerator, coffee machine) ... Knowing that the "Internal Energy Sources" is constrained by eQuest (don't know why) to have only one item with one schedule. which means that only one item of the above-mentioned items should cover the 25% of the total energy costs.

Any contribution to that will be highly appreciated,
Thanks for consideration,
