[BLDG-SIM] Capabilities of Commercial Building Analysis Tools

Dear BLDG-SIM members,

We decided to develop a new  energy analysis software for commercial and public buildings for different climatic conditions of Iran. It will be a design tool for modeling, calculation and analyzing of HVAC, Lighting, DHW and appliances energy performance and assessment of energy conservation opportunities.
Questions:
1. Which software do you recommend for benchmarking in this project? EnergyPlus, HAP, CHVAC, COMcheck or other else?
2. What are the main capabilities of commercial building energy analysis tools?
3. Is there any idea for thermal loads time profiles?
