[BLDG-SIM] How to model Snowmelt System in eQUEST?

For projects I have worked on with snowmelt loads, I calculate the energy consumed by multiplying the snowmelt load by the anticipated runtime hours (based on bin data of OA Temperature for when the snowmelt system will be used). The load can then be assigned as a direct load to the natural gas (or electric) meter under the "Utility & Economics" tab in eQUEST. For simplification, the load is assigned to a scheudle (I typically just run a 24/7/365 schedule and revise the input load so that I get the same total annual energy consumed that was calculated for the snowmelt system) and then assign the load/schedule to an end use category. For snow melt I use the "Exterior Usage" end use category.

Ryan,

Yes, I am modeling for LEED. It might be simpler and easier if Calculating the annual energy consumption for snowmelting system separately, and somehow adding it to heating load from eQUEST.
Did you know ASHRAE 90.1-2004 Appendix G mentions anything about snowmelting? I haven't found yet...

Wow I am in the same exact boat as you are in. I have a snow melt system that I need to model and am not sure how to go about doing it. Are you energy modeling for LEED?

Hi, everyone!

Does anyone know how to model Snow-melt System with eQUEST?

The building I am modeling has radiant snowmelt systems at the basement floor.

Please let me know if anyone has modeled before or has any idea.

Thank you
