Hi Fareed,

as Edgar suggested it strongly depends on the system you are modelling.
Focussing on energy in buildings, for Belgium I would say either TRNSYS or
EnergyPlus. That at least for engineering offices and universities or
university colleges. For Germany and the Scandinavian countries my guess is
that IDA-ICE takes a large share of the market. Researchers in Scotland, the
Netherlands, Switzerland and Canada do use ESP-r as well.

Focussing on modelling things like hydraulics, these codes are less popular,
and I have seen researchers using EES or modellica for those cases.
