Retroficiency, Inc. is looking to fill two positions asap – Building Energy
Scientist and Energy Modeler/Engineer. Job descriptions are below. If you

*Building Energy Scientist*

Retroficiency is seeking an experienced Building Energy Scientist to
support the technical aspects of product research and development, energy
engineering, and sales support process.



*Responsibilities:*

Responsible for the technical and financial analysis of a full range of
energy solutions, including, but not limited to:

o    Advanced building energy simulation modeling of
commercial/intuitional/industrial facilities using standardized energy
modeling software programs (eQuest, EnergyPlus, or equivalent DOE2.2 engine
based simulations) to quantify and prioritize potential energy savings and
demand reduction opportunities.

o    Technical and engineering support for Retroficiency internal product
development, including complex sub-hourly energy benchmarking, the
development of strategic planning tools specifically for energy-efficiency
portfolio assessments and building energy modeling.

o    Participate in comprehensive energy audits of commercial,
institutional, and industrial clients to identify and develop energy
reduction opportunities, as well as associated estimates of cost and energy
savings.

o    Technical and engineering support of the sales process, including
participation in sales meetings, proposal development, and feasibility
studies.



*Requirements:*

The candidate should be a technical expert in building energy systems,
related design, implementation, operational, and cost issues.  The
candidate should possess strong customer communications skills, from both a
sales and delivery of services standpoint.  The candidate should be
prepared for increased responsibility in a rapidly growing company.

o    Significant background (5+ years) in energy efficiency in commercial
and industrial buildings; including a specific demonstrated knowledge of
fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.

o    Ideal applicant will have a background in academic conceptual energy
studies including an advanced degree in mechanical
engineering/thermal-fluids or equivalent professional experience (10 years+)

o    Applicant must be familiar with accepted scientific experimentation
procedures, and have the ability to produce transparent white paper studies
for internal purposes and external publication(s). The ability to conduct
relevant R&D on new and establishing technologies both within the real
(experimental) and virtual worlds (building modeling & CFD), is critical.

o    Applicant must also demonstrate the ability to accurately analyze
information, make strategic decisions/recommendations, and guide others
decision making by identifying the anticipated benefits, consequences, and
impacts of alternative equipment, systems, or control methodologies.

o    Certified Energy Manager (CEM) & PE desirable – but not required for
the right applicant.



*Energy Modeler/Engineer*

Retroficiency is looking for a dynamic and innovative Energy
Modeler/Engineer to join our growing, entrepreneurial team. This position
is located in our Boston, MA office and will require minimal travel.

*Responsibilities:*

o    Working with customers to support their efforts to complete energy
audits and building energy modeling

o    Providing real-time troubleshooting and customer training

o    Helping further develop our proprietary software and technology

o    Assisting with expansion of our retrofit library and reporting
capabilities



*Requirements:*

Ideal candidate must be bright, enthusiastic, self-motivated,
results-oriented, and a team player. The candidate should be prepared for
increased responsibility in a rapidly growing company.

o    Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or architectural engineering or
related field

o    1-3 years of direct professional or educational experience in
mechanical system design, energy modeling, commissioning and/or energy
auditing

o    Strong customer communications skills, from both a sales and delivery
of services standpoint

o    Experience with a number of energy efficient building projects

o    Direct experience using various energy modeling programs for
commercial buildings such as eQuest, EnergyPlus, EnergyPro, Trace, HAP,
Visual DOE, etc.

o    Comprehension of building floor & site plans, construction
specifications and operational policies

o    Comfortable with high-volume, quick-turnaround deadlines

o    Excellent written and oral communication skills for customer and
client communication

o    Detail-oriented problem solver who is able to create innovative
solutions for calculating and calibrating building energy consumption and
savings

o    A positive, team-oriented attitude to match our friendly work
environment
