Sustainability Engineer - Building Services

UK South-East (Reading or London)

JACOBS is one of the world's largest and most diverse providers of technical and management services. We offer a full-spectrum of consultancy support to commercial, government and industrial clients across many sectors. This is a significant opportunity to join a major and growing international consultancy with a strong commitment to sustainable design, and to contribute to the further development of the company's core capabilities in this key area.

The suitable candidate will join the Building Services Team in the South East Region as a sustainability engineer with a focus on the application and development of building environmental modelling approaches, and supporting multi-disciplinary design teams with advice on building physics and sustainable design approaches.

The candidate will report in to a Principal Engineer in support of developing capability across the UK buildings operation in the fields of environmental modelling and sustainability engineering. This is a varied and challenging position and the candidate should be able and willing to take on a variety of roles within the context of building modelling and design.

The candidate will have an understanding of building services design, and a strong interest in the development and application of modelling techniques in the support of design decision making. Knowledge of dynamic thermal modelling packages is essential, and experience of other simulation techniques is desirable. These may include daylight/solar radiation assessments, CFD simulation for indoor environmental quality and/or microclimate assessments, and advanced modelling of HVAC/renewable energy systems. Experience of BIM based design processes would be a further asset.

It is expected that the candidate will already have acquired knowledge of building services design in order to contribute holistically to projects, have a passion for sustainable design, and a desire to build their experience on a range of highly technical and challenging projects. They should be a member of a relevant institution and be working towards chartered engineer status.

Personal Attributes:
