I thought I would get the ball rolling with a message:

Hello,

Welcome to the EnergyPlus_Support group at Yahoo! Groups, a
free, easy-to-use email group service. Please take a moment to review this 
message.

EnergyPlus Version 1.0 was released on April 12, 2001.  This has been a 
multi-year effort with 5 beta releases since December 1999 -- so quite a 
user base has already been created.

The purpose of this group is to foster discussion as well as maintain an 
archive of information for EnergyPlus Users.  The files area will allow for 
uploads of specific files though attachments to email are also 
allowed.  Please feel free to make suggestions on improvements for 
EnergyPlus as well as ask questions about EnergyPlus usage.  This group 
will enhance and not replace the primary support email address of 
EnergyPlus-Support@xxxxxxxx
