[EnergyPlus_Support] Constructions, Slab/Underground Wall configuration

How about underground wall and slab? Does a soil layer need to be assumed?

A soil layer has never been required, as long as you know the correct temperature boundary conditions at the slab surface.  This is, of course, difficult to do so having approximate surface temperatures with a layer of dirt added more capacitance and a buffer from having the more accurate boundary conditions.  Currently, slab and underground/basement walls should use a dirt layer until the new ground heat transfer models have been implemented.

Then, we will know more whether soil layers will be necessary or not.
