Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Heat Convection for building surface
By definition, the convection coefficient accounts for all of the
heat transfer effects in the boundary layer near the wall surface.
EnergyPlus uses two sets of correlations to adjust convection
coefficients according to surface roughness, wind speed, and
temperature difference. These correlations, published by ASHRAE,
have been determined through various research projects over the
years. For most applications, the convection coefficients are
generally accepted within the heat transfer community as good
approximations for the total heat transfer. Note that the radiant
transfer from surfaces is handled separately in EnergyPlus and is not
combined into the convection coefficient.
