Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Definition



You definitions are correct except for Q.  Q is not a single value 
across the entire wall.  Q_in and Q_out can be different due to 
thermal storage in the middle of the wall.  In fact, Q_in and Q_out 
can be in opposite directions under certain conditions.  For example, 
a south-facing wall is heated by the sun and the temperature in the 
center of the wall starts to rise.  Then the sun moves so that the 
wall is now shaded.  The outside of the wall will begin to cool while 
the center of the wall is still hot.  At this time, heat is flowing 
in two directions away from the hot center.
