RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Night Purge
Dan,
I worked out some techniques for night purge that involve using schedules
and multiple runs of EnergyPlus. I use results from an initial run to
compute a schedule for when it makes sense to do night purge. Then assign
the schedule to the minimum outdoor air in a outdoor air mixer (note this
was broken in version 1.0.3). I create a full, 8760-value, schedule using
external code and a descision making algorithm (e.g. cool OA, no warm-up
heating, etc.). I isn't easy, but I think it something useful that is made
possible by the versatile scheduling capabilities of EnergyPlus.

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] Night Purge
Hi there,
I am modelling a naturally ventilated building using the COMIS link. I want
to investigate the effect a night purge has on daytime temperatures. The
night purge would involve some sort of mechanical ventilation system that
would run throughout the night or when the temperature inside reaches a
certain point and the exterior temperature drops to a certain point. Does
anyone know the best way to model this using Energy Plus.
Thanks
Dan G
