Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Re: Trombe Wall delay solar radiation
The behavior of a Trombe wall will depend on how it communicates with the
adjacent zone (interzone surface, windows if any, venting if any). I am not
sure from your question what you are seeing in the simulation and what you
expect to see. Are you comparing two simulations, one with the Trombe walls
and one without?
Regarding SKY RADIANCE DISTRIBUTION, this was a user input in early versions of
EnergyPlus. A value of 1 was used to select the anisotropic sky model. This
is no longer an option in EnergyPlus, it always uses the anisotropic model.
However, the sentence in the Engineering Reference was incorrect (p. 163, pdf
p. 183):
"It is important to make sure the SKY RADIANCE DISTRIBUTION is set to 1
(anisotropic) in the input file so that the majority of the solar flux is
directed on the absorber surface and not just on the very small area of the
Trombe zone floor."
This sentence should read:
"It is important to make sure the Solar Distribution field in the BUILDING
object is set to FullInteriorAndExterior in the input file . . . "
Thank you for calling our attention to this so that we can fix the Engineering
Reference for the next release.
