R = thickness / Thermal conductivity
Then if you know thermal conductivity you can "calculate" R or vice versa.

Hello

In this case i can suggest 3 options:

First you can break your 4 inch insulation into two insulation layers 
of 1 inch and 3 inch and specify the properties from the dataset  , 
or something like that  and proceed ahead.
Second is that you can look up the properties in some material 
handbook and just replace the required fields.
Third is if you simply have the R value of the material ,(use the 
Material-R  field, in this case you wont require the thickness of the 
material)
