Andrea,

Are you getting any ERROR messages in the IDF along with the material 
information?  My first suspicion is that there are no IfcSpace instances 
in the IFC file.  IFCtoIDF requires IfcSpace instances to determine 
thermal zoning for EnergyPlus.
