Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] convective electric baseboard heater

 It is connected to the zone through CONTROLLED ZONE EQUIP CONFIGURATION and 
ZONE EQUIPMENT LIST.  Yes, a thermostat is required.  See example file 
BaseBoardElectric.idf.
