The heat pump model actually has two heating coils. 1) the direct
expansion heating coil and 2) the supplemental heating coil. This model
is a little different than the "real" heat pump equipment. A heat pump
actually has a single coil that can heat and cool based on the position
of the reversing valve with a supplemental heating coil that is used in
case the direct expansion coil can not handle the load.. Since the
single coil in the heat pump can heat AND cool using a compressor, the
simulation model needs to simulate the "coil" as 2 separate "virtual"
coils with different performance characteristics for cooling and heating.
So the sizing info you see refers to the "virtual" DX heating coil (#1)
and the supplemental heating coil (#2) and sizing info for the cooling
coil (#3)). Why the heating coils are sized differently is another
question all together.
To add a second Window AC to a zone, add another exhaust and inlet node
to the zone and connect the 2nd Window AC to these nodes. Include the
Window AC in the zone equipment list to tell the simulation which one
you want to run first to meet the zone load. No examples exist since 2
small units are nearly the same as 1 larger unit.
