Tony:

You are right. The AirflowNetwork model can not handle inputs with external 
shading surfaces. The AirflowNetwork model assumes each surface is exposed 
to a zone, but the external shading surfaces have no zone associated. The 
problem will be fixed in the next release.

I tried to find a workaround way and could not find any so far.
