[EnergyPlus_Support] Certification

Greetings,

I'm wondering if anyone know about this. It would save me some time calling the IRS!

I was reading that EnergyPlus software is certified by the IRS for qualifying improvements for the federal tax deduction under Section 179D.

I also read that in order to receive the deduction, the property must be certified by a "qualified" individual (presumably using EnergyPlus): meaning "an engineer or contractor properly licensed in the jurisdiction."

Does anyone know what that means? "Properly licensed" could mean a PE license, a General Contractors (Builders) license, CEM (certified energy manager), Mechanical Contractor, licensed Architect, etc.... I doubt any of the officials in my jurisdiction would have any clue as to what licensing requirements would be needed for someone to appropriately certify a property.

I have a "Professional Master of Engineering Degree"....would that be good enough? Somehow, I doubt it...

Thanks,
Mark
