Since you originally asked about transparent insulation, I can say that 
EnergyPlus is very strong in modeling the building envelope using a full heat 
balance method.  Ultimately, the choice of tool depends greatly on the 
strengths of each program and the goals of your analysis.  There is a 
comparison report that may help you in making your decision:
