The best way is to create RVIs, essentially subsets of
the data you report out and run through ReadVars again.

For example one RVI may just be the fuel consumption at
whatever timestep, another might be zone MAT and MRT,
a third might be system operating conditions.

Good sets of example RVIs included in the example files.  And are 
explained in the documentation.

Also, you can report to CSVs just certain frequency variables (i.e. 
Daily, Monthly, etc).  Again, explained in the documentation.
