[EnergyPlus_Support] Re: Cooling a zone without affecting humidity

Elmer,

If you have any sustained latent loads, then what you are trying to do
is not possible without separately treating the latent loads. If you
have no latent cooling capacity, then the humidity will rise until the
air in the space is fully saturated. At that point, it is impossible to
do any sensible cooling without also doing latent cooling. So if you're
not providing enough latent capacity, you won't be able to do any
sensible cooling.

It is possible, on the other hand, to set up a separate loop for
providing latent control, and then have a sensible-only system for
controlling temperature, the DOAS approach. To do this, you could put a
dehumidification component into an air loop that provides ventilation
air to the space (it's possible for this to be latent-only with reheat),
then use the low temperature radiant hydronic system that Brent pointed
out to do most of the sensible cooling.
