Yes, the two objects are very similar.  However, the ventilation object 
has more controls that can be applied (e.g., Minimum Indoor Temperature, 
Delta Temperature, Maximum Indoor Temperature, etc.) and considers the 
impacts of a fan (electric energy consumption AND fan heat added to the 
air stream .... see Field:Ventilation Type for the Ventilation object).

If your intake/exhaust fans are simply scheduled on or off based on time 
of day and you are willing to neglect the impacts of fan heat and fan 
electric consumption, then you can probably use the infiltration 
object.  If you want to model additional controls, then consider using 
the ventilation object.
