Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Two System combination

The problem here is that COMPACT HVAC objects are still present in the idf
file. If you want to merge files so that two systems are serving the same
zone, you must run the simple single-system COMPACT HVAC simulation and use the
expidf output file to do the merging.

In this case, the approach would be to run a simulation with only fan coil
units using COMPACT HVAC, then take the expidf output file and merge in the
DOAS system.

Your present input file can be fixed as follows:

1. Run it, as you have already, and you will get fatal errors.

2. Take the expidf output file and rename it to a new filename.idf.

3. This file has 3 instances of CONTROLLED ZONE EQUIP CONFIGURATION and ZONE
EQUIPMENT LIST for Zone 25. Keep the ones named "25 Equipment" and delete the
others.

4. The file contains both a DIRECT AIR unit and a terminal reheat AIR
DISTRIBUTION UNIT. Keep one of these and delete the others, depending on what
type of system the DOAS is.

5. Add the DOAS terminal unit to ZONE EQUIPMENT LIST "25 Equipment" with
priority 1, and change the fan coil priorities to 2.

6. In the ZONE EQUIP CONFIGURATION object, you will also need to get the node
names adjusted. The return air node name must match the inlet to the ZONE
MIXER for the DOAS, and the zone inlets must now be a NODE LIST name, and the
NODE LIST will need to contain both the DOAS supply inlet to the zone and the
fan coil supply inlet.

7. If you use DIRECT AIR for the DOAS terminal unit, you will also need to
delete the hot water reheat coil and it's branch.

8. After all of this, you may need to make some other adjustments, but this
should get you closer to the final goal.
