For your consideration:  It makes no sense to use a direct evaporative
cooler in front of ANY refrigeration system.  The evap cooler is just
an adiabatic device which transfers sensible heat to latent; any
refrigeration system will have to remove exactly the same amount of
energy with the evap cooler in place as without.  Of course, an
INdirect evap cooler will provide useful assistance to a refrigeration
system as a pre-cooler.
