[EnergyPlus_Support] Modeling of fan coil system

Howdy;

I'm attempting to model a ventilation system that isn't well-supported
by EnergyPlus, and I'm looking for some guidance.

In this system, outside air is first heated to about 18°C by a central
AHU and delivered to each zone directly through a fan coil unit (to be
clear: what would typically be an outside air inlet on the fan coil
unit is instead connected to the central AHU). The fan coil then
tempers the air from the AHU (which is mixed with air recirculated
from the zone) to address any heating or cooling loads. The heating
coil in the fan coil unit is a hot water coil, and the cooling coil is
a DX coil.

This is problematic for a number of reasons, the first of which being
that EnergyPlus doesn't, to my knowledge, support the delivery of
central air to fan coils in the manner I've described above. To get
around that, I had set up the model to use a DIRECT AIR object to
deliver air directly to the zone and gave it #1 heating/cooling
priority in the ZONE EQUIPMENT LIST. I then created a UNIT VENTILATOR,
configured it in such a way that it would use essentially zero outside
air, and then gave it #2 heating/cooling priority.

I then ran into my second problem: one can't use DX coils within a
UNIT VENTILATOR. So, now I'm really at a loss as to how to best model
this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot,

Josh
