RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] CHP simulation example?

Dear Brent,

Thank you for the reply, I think your information is quite useful. It is really strange that a component like this exists in EnergyPlus and there is no available example or simulation made by someone. The problem we are facing now is with the normalization object for the CHP. We must define an object, a performance curve for the electrical and the thermal efficiency of the CHP. These objects have to be TriQuadratic curves with 12 coefficients. I would like to ask you if you know how we can find information for these coefficients, would it be more preferable to wait for the CHP example? Thank you again for the reply.

Best regards

The next release of EnergyPlus (version 2.2 due out in April 2008)
should include an example file for micro cogeneration. The current
version 2.1 has some problems that make it difficult to make good use of
the Generator:Micro CHP component model. The micro CHP model has the
 heat exchanger already inside it.

The plant topology I find useful for cogeneration uses a water heater as
a storage tank. There are two Plant loops (and no condenser loop). The
water heater's Source side is connected to the cogenerator and the Use
side is connected to zone heating coils and service hot water uses.

 Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] CHP simulation example?

 Dear Forum,

Our team is trying to model a micro CHP unit for a carbon zero
building. We have a lot of questions about how to connect the heating
part of the CHP with the rest of the heating system of the building.
We are thinking of making a condenser loop that will contain a heat
exchanger which will be representing the heat recovery unit of the
CHP. The water that will be condensed through this process and still
will be warm will be then sent to the Plant loop in the hot water
branch and from there to the zones. But what can this branch be? A
pipe maybe? These are just thoughts of course.

I would like to ask you if there is any CHP example (that is correct
and able to be simulated)that you could upload? This would be of
 enormous help.

 Best Regards

 Tasos Ioannou
