If this is the case, the computer/OS/E+ version should not be an issue.

Then you mentioned that it wouldn't run for just weatherfile simulation, and that an 1887 byte error file was produced.  What was in that 1887 byte error file.  That could tell what the problems are.  Please reply with the contents of that file.

What computer are you using?  Have you installed the correct version of Energy Plus software to match the computer or  OS?
