Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Question about AirFlowNetwork in EnergyPlus

Marcello:

Here are answers to your questions.

1) Solar gain calculation is independent of window opening.

2) No. There is no connection between shading and the AirflowNetwork model
right now.

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] Question about AirFlowNetwork in EnergyPlus

Dear EnergyPlus users,

I am a phD student dealing with natural and hybrid ventilation in
office buildings.

I have two specific questions about the relation between the airflow
model and the windows and shading devices in EnergyPlus:

1) Each opening object is associated, if I well understand, to a
window or a door defined in the zone object. My question is: when a
window is partially opened, is the solar gain entering the zone
calculated according to this? I mean, is it considered that in the
opened part there is actually no glass?

2) When a shading device is specified the window can be partially
shaded by it. Is it possible to specify that the window should not be
completely opened, but that the maximum opening corresponds to the
unshaded area?

Thank you very much in advance for your answers or comments!
