Yes, for any sizing calculations, you need a SizingPeriod.  -- whether design days or chosen from the weather files.

You just don't need to select to "run" the Sizing periods if you don't want to see those results.

If you choose the sizing calculations, then the "autosized" values are automatically inserted for the calculation results (i.e. Run Simulation for Sizing Periods or Run Simulation for Weather File Run Periods)

Terminology is V3.0, V3.1.
