Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] What will the weather file override?

Attaching a new weather file only changes/overrides the site:location parameters.

SizingPeriod:DesignDay are the best indicators if you are doing autosizing of your building and  you would need to change them.  Site:GroundTemperature only needs to be used if you have ground contact from your building surfaces -- ideally you would change them as well.

Another option would be to use the SizingPeriod:WeatherFileConditionType along with extreme period designators (SummerExtreme, WinterExtreme) but this is a bit tenuous as all weather files (though I think most in the US) might not have a SummerExtreme or WinterExtreme period.

Of course, if you are using Site:Precipitation, you would need to change that.  Not sure about the pollution factors, construction costs, tariffs -- those you would have to think about.  And the terrain field in the Building object -- though you may wish to run all in the same kind of "terrain".

I am currently using the EFG to create a standard compliant building in a particular climate zone. I would like to change the location characteristics within that climate zone (e.g. Phoenix to New Orleans) to run the same simulation in a different city. What parameters in the IDF file will be overridden by the weather file and what will I need to change by hand? From what I can figure out, the weather file seems to only override the Site:Location but I still need to input SizingPeriod:DesignDay and Site: GroundTemperature for the simulation to run. Am I correct? Or is there an easier way to change the location characteristics? Also, are there other parameters that I need to change that I am forgetting? Thanks.
