RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Tutorial example in instruction Exercise 1B.

Dr. Li,

Again thank you for your help in learning this program.  I believe your last e-mail will help me identify the correct coordinates for the east and west windows.  To be honest, I had a feeling  entering the same coordinates as the walls would mean the windows would be the same size as the walls.

As for not knowing the 3D Coordinates,  The program was marketed to me as an energy manager.  This means that I don't have an engineering or an architect degree.  I do have a business degree and a CEM.  So I have to apoligise  for being a little behind in learning the 3D coordinates.  So when you say "I have tried following the steps again, and find that they are well described and quite easy to follow." this is a relative term and perhaps for you this is easy.  For me, it is a little more difficult but I'm a fast learner and appreciate you helping me:-)

Hi, Linda

The dimension and drawing of the windows matches the tutorial steps in Version 4.

I have tried following the steps again, and find that they are well described and quite easy to follow.  Last time I used it was with Ver.1.4, when Mr. Ooi KB started to ask me questions on EPlus.

There are a number of people who still do not know how to read  X, Y, Z  3D coordinates.  They also have problems with clockwise and counter clockwise  ordering of the vertices.

I guess this is  because most math. problems set at the University are two dimensional.

I have be asked how to calculate and center the coordinate values for the windows in the example by other university students.

I have not try using the multiple file and window editing, with the IDFeditor before this few days.  I have now created a separate Shortcut for IDFeditor so that I do not have to open it using the EPlaunch.

Large block cut and paste is still faster using the text editor.

You can also use the simpler rectangular windows in that example.  We did not have time in the V4.0 release to change over the examples, but that is what we would suggest.
