Hi,
Working on a multizone model, for arguments sake two adjacent zones A & B, seperated by a wall, gib/framing/gib.
If I describe the interface between each as;
BuildingSurface:Detailed,
A_W1, !- Name
Wall, !- Surface Type
Gib_Framing_Gib, !- Construction Name
A, !- Zone Name
Zone, !- Outside Boundary Condition
B, !- Outside Boundary Condition Object
BuildingSurface:Detailed,
B_W1, !- Name
Wall, !- Surface Type
Gib_Framing_Gib, !- Construction Name
B, !- Zone Name
Zone, !- Outside Boundary Condition
A, !- Outside Boundary Condition Object
The documentation (ioref 10/02/09 pp 215) suggests;
"...EnergyPlus will automatically create the required surface in the adjacent zone when this is entered for the surface...."
So I will end up with double the effective area for heat transfer between zones as I have listed for eplus twice? (assuming the area of the surface is the same in each case).
Conversely in the situation where the zones do not have an intermediate wall, i.e a large open plan area served by multiple fan coil units.
ioref suggests I should be using Surface but I still have to provide a construction type, does eplus ignore the construction type and assume zero thermal resistance?
Clarification would be appreciated.
Regards,
Mark Carey
