Hi, Danny It all depends on whether a person is a WIndows form filler, or some one with some CAD and programming experience. Of course some knowledge in HVAC is also required. With the amount of documentation and examples provided with the Energy Plus, I have no difficulties in searching for information and starting an IDF file from scratch. I have helped several perple who started with DesignBuilder and Ecotect, and cannot understand the IDF requirements. Energy Plus is a research and design tool. It is not a green building certificate generating toy. I guess people pretty much a cad program like Ecotect or design builder. Then if you have design builder you do what you can in design builder, then work directly in the idf. How hard is it to enter the hvac stuff directly into the idf from an Ecotect export building?
Cheers Danny Get a great deal on Windows 7 and see how it works the way you want.
