Iam sorry that I cannot help you to debug the shade. You can replace it with a solid plate or horizontal blind and compare the results.
The holes below the window level will not contribute to the light level in the room and simply use up computing time in simulation.
The window is receiving sun beam, but not necessary through the shade. You may be able to confirm this by looking at the transmitance of the shade at temesteps.
You can also calculate manually to see whether the solar angle is low enough to be shaded, by drawing a simple diagram to scale on paper. The solar angles is availabe in the simulated data.
My computer is too slow to debug your program.

Dear Dr. Li, Thank you very much Dr. Li, your advice is really helping me. It is written in the Energy Plus processing (the black window) while simulating: computing window shade absorption factor, determining shadowing combination and after each month: updating shadowing calculations. Therefore I thought that Energy plus understood the shading device and the cooling energy output generated seemed reasonable. I read in Energy Plus documentation that warnings are different from errors and sometimes are not errors. Please verify if the file of the external shading device is not working and the window has no direct sun beams. Concerning the 28 warnings of daylighting, Does these warnings prevent accurate daylighting results?
