That surface defines the position and
geometry for all the PV models, but the net area of that surface is only used with
the Simple model. Net area is the gross area minus the area of any sub-surfaces
–see I/O Ref entry for the field called “Fraction of Surface Area with
Active Solar Cells. The more advanced PV models use the area of the PV module entered
in the respective PhotovoltaicPerformance input objects and don’t use the
surface’s area at all.

"Surface Name" in Generator:Photovoltaic
Hi everybody,
I have a question
about photovoltaic model on EnergyPlus.
I want to simulate a
building with PV panels located in the building façade.
In the object
"Generator:Photovol
If there
are windows on these walls, I don't know if the program will
automatically desconsider the area of the windows, to locate the PV panels, or
I have to create another surface on the opaque surfaces in order to locate the
panels?
