I am surprised you were able to paste any house or building into SketchUp/OpenStudio, it was my understanding that you must draw the structure within OpenStudio's zone box or boxes depending on building zones. So you were able to paste a basic house (not sure how you are defining "basic" I'll assume a one story simple box, that just happened to fit within OpenStudio's default zone) but unable to paste a detailed building. Knowing what your detailed building looks like does make a difference. However, draw the building from scratch and keep the building layout straight forward, simplify where necessary. Let me know if redrawing works.
