RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Thermal bridges input method

In my opinion  the best way is introducing “virtual” sub surfaces (with a very small surface) where the thermal bridge exist and use a “virtual” construction conducing to  the same  thermal transmittance than the linear thermal transmittance calculated by 2D model * the thermal bridge length .

In clear U*S = Y*l

Where S is the (small) sub surface and l is the thermal bridge length.

It will be great if in E+ was possible to introduce a “thermal bridge” object defined by its length (starting and ending point; position) and the linear thermal transmittance (pre calculated with any 2D software)

Asunto: [EnergyPlus_Support] Thermal bridges input method

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had imagined a rigourous way to input thermal bridges in EPlus. So far I always integrate it within the U-value of the wall.
But for large and complex projects, details are numerous and it is difficult to reach a correct approximation even using 2-D finite difference modelling. Or it would then be too long work to create all the required sub surfaces.

So I am just asking if anyone had a brilliant idea on how to solve that.

Thanks in advance
Aymeric
