Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Multi-Stage AC Units

Read about the following objects in the Input Output Reference and Engineering Reference:

Coil:Cooling:DX:MultiSpeed
AirLoopHVAC:UnitaryHeatPump:AirToAir:MultiSpeed

Up to 4 different capacity steps/coil curves can be specified.

Dear Max,

I think you will want to develop custom part load performance curves for your AC unit.  These curves are used by the DX coil objects, and while the only coil objects  are single and two stage, you probably have only two stages at the coil and can create an acceptable group of curves which will simulate your specific performance.

On the other hand,  there are so many variables which affect performance that I would not spend too much time trying to make the coil / AC unit curves too detailed.

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] Multi-Stage AC Units

Hello, I'm considering using EnergyPlus for a modeling task I have. Are there any objects which can model a large packaged rooftop AC unit with three or four (scroll) compressors? Searching through the engineering reference doc I only found references to single and two-stage cooling equipment objects.

Thanks,
Max
