This was answered on the helpdesk with the following reply. 

This is a known issue for certain types of models. For certain types of buildings the two methods produce results within 10% or less. But for certain types of applications, the results differ by more than that. This is an open issue for the development team. At present, the CTF solution is considered more reliable. Regardless of which method you use, if you are comparing multiple alternatives, they should all be modeled with the same method.
