[EnergyPlus_Support] Re: modelling occupancy behaviour
Occupancy paterns are all but impossible to predict. Major assumptions are always made here. Tenents move in or out, spaces are switched between difference usages, the number of people as they move in or out of spaces are not forseeable.
However, modeling should not be used to predict exactly how much energy may be consumed, but what stradegies work best together, and to point out problem areas. Using the same occupancy schedules means that you compare apples with apples. Here, however lays the greatest possibility to skew the efficiency figures of the design case building vs. the baseline building.
Yes, it has the biggest impact on simulated energy consumption.
Yes, it should be as accurate as possible.
Yes, more time and effort should be spent on the area and mandates should be incorporated into applicablle standards.
????? How? It's all but impossible.
