Hi Bryan,

I think the problem is that you are not "activating" the zones before you draw your objects.  If the zone is not activated your drawn objects will not be Energy Plus objects.
The way to activate a zone is by double clicking on its origin...  It will then be displayed with dotted lines.  Once the zone is activated the objects you draw will be energy plus objects.

Hi,

I am not sure if this will help but with Open Studio you have to save your file in a special way otherwise it won't work. Go to Plugins - open studio - Save As - then save your file including .idf. This will save it as an EnergyPlus file. If you have forgotten to put the .idf just go into the folder where you saved the file and add .idf extension to your file name and it should then open up in open studio. Also when opening your file make sure you open it in the plugin. Go to Plugins - open studio - open

Hope this helps

Annie

Thank you. I have.  The tutorial advises that: If you draw something and it is not the color you expected, that is a sign that something is wrong. But I have not found guidance about how to correct the problem.

I am new to open studio.

I have installed EnergyPlus and the SketchUp open studio plug in on my Windows Vista machine. When I start SketchUp the Open Studio menu is present, and I am able to create new EnergyPlus zones, but none of the objects that I create are EnergyPLus objects, but simple Sketchup only. However, when I exit Sketchup, I am prompted with "Save changes to the EnergyPlus input file Untitled.idf? Open Studio must be running, why can I not create EnergyPlus objects?
