RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Fan Motor Power output?

Dear Jeannie,

I’m not clear about you question…… but I’ll mention a couple of thing s that may help.

·         A 10HP motor is rated for 10HP of output.  Input energy is greater and is equal to output / efficiency (e.g., 10hp / .92)

·         A 10HP motor does not always use the full power rating.  In fact, since engineers are always so careful J, if they estimate that the motor will need to produce 7HP, they may choose a 10HP motor “just to be safe”

·         On top of that, since their calculations are also conservative, the actual power demand may be less that 7HP, perhaps 6HP.  That means you may have a 6HP load served by a 10HP motor.

·         Most electric motors do not have constant efficiency throughout their power range.  Efficiency generally drops a lot as the actual load drops below about 50% of the rated / maximum load.

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] Fan Moter Power output?

Is there a Fan moter rated power output or fan power output OR do I have to derive it from standard formulas...if so what is the standard formula?
