Good point! I’m not sure why a fan coil requires a
constant volume fan, but that’s apparently the case. How about using a ZoneHVAC:UnitHeater? Heat transfer will be
the same and the fan can be “On/Off”. This only works for
heating, not cooling. Another possibility to get cooling capability is a UnitVentilator.
You’d have to define it with no outdoor air and a variable volume fan. If
you make the variable volume fan coefficients proportional to load (100% load =
100% power, 50% load = 50% power, etc., it should end up very close to On/Off
operation. The Building Performance Team From: EnergyPlus_Support@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

What if they are only set up as zonal equipment? if I use
availabilitymanager:nightcycle doesn't it only work if I can assign the
availabilitymanager:assignmentlist to something? I don't see where I can
include that into the fan coil at the zone level. __._,_.___ Primary EnergyPlus support is found at: http://energyplus.helpserve.com or send a message to energyplus-support@xxxxxxxx The primary EnergyPlus web site is found at: http://www.energyplus.gov The group web site is: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/EnergyPlus_Support/ Attachments are currently allowed but be mindful that not everyone has a high speed connection.
