Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Openstudio automatic detection of interior walls/floors

Hi,
when you work with open studio just save your file in IDF format and don't save the sketchup format and when you want to open the file just import IDF file and don't care about sketchup file
don't worry the IDF file is correct

Hello,

I made a model and saved it in Openstudio/Sketchup. Once I open that file again, it gives me a lot of triangulated faces and a lot of error and some faces missing etc..Does this happen always or is it just me? how do I get to reopen a file clean?

Reza,

That's really helpful. I will try doing it this way.

Thank you!

Hi,
It is not correct. You had faulted in modeling. Fallow these steps:
1- define a zone for each floor.
2- double-click on zone also on object \right click\intersect face \ with model ( do this for all of your zones)
3-run surface matching tool\ match in the entire model
4- save IDF
after this process you will have interior and exterior surfaces
also maybe you have defined materials or contractions, and you want to assign them to exterior, interior surfaces
use Default Construction tool
or watch this tutorial

Hello,

I am modeling a multi-story building using OpenStudio and when I built zones (second story) on top of the already built ground floor zones, OpenStudio carries the external floor construction definition for internal floors and external wal defn for internal walls. Doesn't OpenStudio automatically detect the surface characteristics once it is built? Or am I missing something here?

Hope to hear from someone.

Thanks!
