EnergyPlus IS capable of running multiple air side system simulations (multiple AHUs)

One of the few limitations to EnergyPlus is that you can only have one splitter and one mixer on the demand and supply sides of each loop. Other than systems requiring this, you can model almost any system configuration in EnergyPlus.

For the system you are trying to model, are you making up the air that you are exhausting with ventilation air, or transferring it from adjacent spaces? I would suggest creating an air system containing the zones you are exhausting, and use a return fan as your exhaust fan. In the sizing:zone objects you will want to set ventilation rates appropriate to making up the ventilation air you are exhausting.

An example of modeling a return fan can be found in the file 55ZoneReturnFan.idf

Alternatively, the zones that are being exhausted may be thermally similar enough to be modeled as one zone with a single zone exhaust fan. An example of this can be found in TermReheatZoneExh.idf

I would like to ask some questions about mechanical definitions of my building in Energy Plus. Since i have recently started modelling the mechanical systems of the buildings in energy plus, my question is about the capabilities of the new version 6.0.

The building is a complex building with different functions, thus having several thermal zones. Besides a AHUnit serving to 2-3 thermal zones, some exhaust fans are runing out the air together from 2-3 zones.

I couldn?t find example files such like several AHUs/FANs in one zone or one AHU/FAN working on several zones and couldn?t find in documents if such complex models are possible in version 6.0.

Thanks in advance for any guidance or tag to  find out answers for my pivotal problem.

(if necessary i can share my trial .idf files where i tried to connect the nodes of the mutli zone ? multi unit structure)
