RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Vertical Ground Heat Exchanger

1.        I’d guess there is one or more bypass pipes that get some of the flow and explain why they aren’t the same.

2.       That heat transfer is driven by the operation of the plant equipment inside the building and that has not changed with a different borehole field.  You should see some significant differences in loop operating temperatures, but not necessarily that heat transfer rate because nothing much has changed on the demand side of the loop.

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] Vertical Ground Heat Exchanger

Hi everyone.

I have some questions regarding vertical ground heat exchangers.

1. Why is the mass flow in the vertical GHE different from the water
mass flow at the source side of the heat pump? Shouldn't they be the same?

2. When I've simulated vertical GHE with borehole configuration of 1×2 and
then of 4×4 (same depths) for the same building, the output parameter
'VERTICAL GROUND HEAT EXCHANGER:Ground Heat Exchanger Heat Transfer[W](Hourly)'
showed approximately the same values. Why is that so? Does that output
parameter mean the heat transfer of a single borehole?

Any help would be really appreciated.

Regards,

Urban
