It won’t affect results for “heat loss” very much. The impact will be on solar gains through windows but the specific amount depends a great deal on the specifics of the building and the U/SHGC values. The only way to answer your question is to run the same building with both window models and compare the results. That statement is basically a caveat for the situation where a user does such a comparison and finds the two window models are not identical. Because window rating systems are for normal incidence, models for off-angle window performance are not really all that well-developed. It might even be the case that the approach used for simple glazing system is as good or better than what is used for the detailed layer-by-layer model.
