[EnergyPlus_Support] Re: Window AC Auto Sizing Issues

And just to close it out, here is the response from the support folks:

	>I do see that the air flow rate for the DX cooling coil
	>is sizing larger than the Window AC unit.
	>The problem is that the air flow rate required to
	>meet the heating load is higher than the air flow
	>rate required to meet the cooling load.
	>In Energyplus, the Window AC is sized using the
	>zone design cooling flow rate.
	>However, the DX cooling coil is sized using
	>the larger of the design cooling and design heating
	>flow rates. You might ask yourself why do that,
	>it is because a cooling coil can be
	>used in the same air stream as a heating
	>coil and both of these coils would need to use the same
	>design flow rate. In your case, the Window AC does not
	>have a heating coil and the software does not
	>specifically account for that.
	>I see you are using a Window AC for cooling
	>and convective water baseboard for heating in each zone.
	>If the simulation is using baseboard to heat,
	>then in Sizing:Zone, entering a high heating supply
	>temperature should fix the problem. That should result
	>in a small heating design flow rate, but nothing in
	>the user's model should care about that.

I went and changed the supply temp from 40 to 60 and the problem went away.
